March madness, literally.

looong time since ive updated.
march has been extremely busy fo
r me.
mostly in positive ways.
one person should not have this much fun, that is why i shared most of these events with my favorite people.

Spring break has come and gone, wayy too fast. I went to the beach with some friends and my boyfriend, it was a blast. the beach was completely deserted. I have never seen the beach like this, ever. it was quite enjoyable. he enjoys riding "lil clown bikes" as my dad calls it and we got plenty of fun photos of him doing tricks and what not.. We went for bike rides on the boardwalk and through the city. Its weird calling it a city, its deffff not like philly hah. We tie-dyed some shirts and onesies for my friends katie and kyle who were expecting a baby boy...

I also went to bloomsburg for my friend mairsies 20th birthday.
I absolutely love bloomsburg and the people there.
Mairins family always makes me feel at home and her friends are
also exceptionall
y nice. We went shopping and went to a few birthday parties of course! My good highschool friend Amba came with me,
which wa
s the icing on the cake. i had an amazing time, as always.

once i got back to schoo
l st. pattys day was just around the corner. for some reason st. pattys day has always been my favorite holiday. i remembered to pack my festive attire to take back to school. getting dressed up all crazy is always a treat. we celebrated at my boyfriends house with some friends and good music. being a tuesday we were sure to keep it low key (;

i finally made
it to the big apple!!! megabus didnt leave us behind again! woo! hah we rode on a double decker bus and lucky got to sit on the top row.. once we got there we walked throught the city for a while and then decided to take a taxi to the museum, which suprisingly wasnt that expensive. the museum was a treat. it was my boyfriends first time there so we had to make sure to hit all the hot exhibits. they blow me away no matter how many times i see them. on our way back i ran into a sidewalk vender who makes jewelry and trinkits out of forks. beautiful work..his name is matthew bartik, you can view some of his stuff at www.fork-art.com, i highly advise you do so. i plan on one day buying a ring from him if it doesnt drain my piggybank hah..on the way back to our megabus stop we walked through central park, thankfully it was a beautiful day out..i love NYC! on the way home from NYC i had lots on my mind to look forward to.

the next day i volunteered in paintin a mural in west philadelphia with my roomie and my friend rach. it was an experience i will never forget. its a nice feeling contributing to the community for only personal fulfillment. the mural addressed issues of race and religion. we painting just a small portion, yet we were told we were the "best painters hes had so far" possibly because were perfectionists and art majors?? hah
THEN!! (( i know, i told you it was busy!)) the next week went incredibly slow. i had been excitedly awaiting the slightly stoopid concert for the longest time and it was so close i could smell it. the concert was at a small venue in allentown, let me rephrase that..wayyy to small venue. the show was sold out. i believe people were actually not allowed in even though they had tickets because it was so crammed. thankfully my friends and i got in and got a sweet spot where we saw everything! there was hardly enough room to dance but we made due with what we had. they are one of my favorite bands and seeing them live was a dream of mine. now i can check that off the list! haha i regretfully have no pictures of the concert itself because cameras were not allowed? how retarded.

FUNNY ST
ORY: baby kamryns due date was march 27th, the day after the concert. we told the baby and his parents over and over not to come on the 26th, whatever you do, not then! and guess who decides to...yeah. haha thankfully i was going home that weekend and was able to see the baby the next day. whata cutie!!! a healthy 7lb 13oz baby boy named Kamryn Elijah Simpson (: ((MARCH 26th))

i have realized that i am going to double minor in photography and environmental studies. these are both interests of mine and something i could see myself pursuing later in life. photography would be something i could do during the summers or in my free time when i am teaching. i already have clients lined up wanting photos taken. environmental studies will come in handy for when i join the peace corps. my job this summer has changed to not only the arts and crafts coordinator for berks park and rec department but also the environment program leader. i couldnt be more excited!!

im taking salsa dancing lessons on thursday with my boyfriend. ( he suggested it, yeah!!! ha) and going to first friday to see my friends art exhibition. my boyfriend and i are making a date of it and biking down to south street to shop early in the day and going out for dinner and then heading to the exhibit. there is a bbq festivity on saturday as well. cant wait for the weekend!

needless to say march has been my favorite month so far this year.
i doubt any other could top it but i can only hope.

tomorrow is april fools day, i plan on having fun with that (;

the cuz cuz comes home in a month, yesssss!

peace&love all

megafus

You wont efffin' believe this..

I get off the sub yesterday at 12:20... ten solid min. to walk 20 feet over to the bus stop...and what do i see?? a mega bus driving by, which says "Philidelphia" on it. I look at my watch and see its only 12:20.. "a bus wouldnt leave 10 min early, thats perposterous!" I thought...well guess what, that bus driver didnt give two shits about his passangers and just left! A solid 7 people were waiting there at 12:28...so being the leader my father made me ;D I decided to call Megabus and see where our bus was. They told me it was running three min late, no big deal. But at 12:45 I called again, they told me "oh were having some technical difficulties itll be there around 1:05" LIARS!! I called shortly after 1:10 and they told me the driver had already departed at 12:35. LIAR!!!!! That driver screwed me and many others over that day. I called at 12:28 wondering where my bus was. WHY would I do that IF the driver left at 12:35...DUHHH! SO needless to say, I did not get to NYC that day. I was transfered and on hold with the Megabus company and costumer service for way too long that day...Some of the other unfortunates offered me and my boyfriend a ride to NYC with them, extremely nice people. But we regrettfully declined because we knew that by the time we got there we would just have to hop on the bus back, IF it didnt decide to leave early on us. GAHHH!!

DO NOT USE MEGABUS!!!

We all exchanged emails to keep eachother updated on whether we can get a refund or compensation of some sort. I am calling tomorrow and so is my boyfriend to reem them out.

Now tomorrow I have to beg my teacher to either let me do an alternate assignment or get an extension on this assignment. Even though for me to take a bus from home to NY is around 50 smackers. If she makes me go, I'll have to go over spring break; spend way too much money and miss my friends birthday...I am hoping she takes this all into consideration and doesnt make me pay that much and still go. BUT I HIGHLY doubt this. Her military approach to teaching doesnt make me feel that she'll be too sympathetic.

I LOVE NYC and the Met. It woulda been a wonderful day, but thanks to some dude who couldnt hold tight till he was supposed to, me and many others were ultimitly screwed out of a trip/ride/assignment/money/experience.

It amazes me how someone can be so careless of others.

Karma will get him.

...Its supposed to snow a foot here. Temple hasnt cancelled class since 2002. I can only hope we get enough that the campus closes. Otherwise, HELLO WET SOCKS!!- ehh not really but it is a pain in the butt walkin to class with all that slosh around...

GOOD NOTE:
spring break is right around the corner (:

NYC

I heard that my father has gotten a big head about the whole racquetball ordeal...go ahead i say, live it up while you can. I want him and my boyfriend to play because for some reason my boyfriend keeps beating me now...

So due to my alarm not going off and missing my school field trip last Saturday, I am truckin' to the big apple by my own means tomorrow. I was completely content with making this voyage on my own, but the momma and the poppa wouldn't allow it. FYI, I am 20. I woulda loved this adventure on my own, with some good tunes and my sketchbook, just wondering around the Met at my own ease. I think I am old enough to figure it out on my own, but no, apparently not. I gotta grow up eventually...but to ease by parents minds my boyfriend is accompanying me, which should also be a blast. We plan on grabbing a bus there and walking the 4 miles from the station to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I plan on taking snacks and drinks along because it is extremely expensive to eat at the cafe in the Met, and I dont particularly like the food anyways. I was gonna just grab a hotdog from a street vender but I gave up red meat for lent, oh well ha. Ill be sure to document this adventure and post a few pics...

Also, its been a while since I've posted because I have been supppper busy with school work. I had two exams last week, which I got a 94 and a 97.5 on. WOO! Im strivin' to graduate with a 3.75!! Dunno if I can live up to my brainy aunt who graduated with almost a 4.0 I believe. ha...

Tonight Im going to a dance performance in at my school to fill a requirment for my dance in human society class. Its some SCUBA dance alliance group... Im hoping to see lots of people hoppin around in scuba gear, doubt it though ha

50 going on 20

first thing i heard when i got home..
"your gonna eat it kiddo, you better be ready.."
all weekend the endless bantering between my father and I got on my mothers nerves.
the trash talk showed no mercy.
just like our match(es).

well
the results are in...
my 5o year old father beat me, age 20.
own my butt.
whipped the floor with me.
opened a can of whoop ass.
showed me whose boss.
ripped me a new one.
made me eat dirt.

he cut me no slack,
& rubbed my nose in it.

& i loved it.
I couldn't be more proud that my 50yr old father can still kick some ass.
( in racquetball and who knows what else)

I have to admit that I got some really great pointers, and the second game was head to head for about twenty min with the score only at 5-5. It was intense and I was giving him a solid run for his money, but shortly after, once he gained the serving position, he just stayed there ha. winning, again.

I plan on practicing as im sure he will. Spring Break, the rematch!

I did happen to master this sweet, special technique.

overall, i had a lot of fun(:

half&half

So yesterday...
Alarm goes off precisely at 10am, and all i want to do is lay there. Right from the start I knew it wasn't going to be a good day. Ever have those feelings? Even before ANYTHING happens?

Well I cant say I didnt try really hard to fight it...

I picked out a cute outfit, spiffed my hair all nice, soaked in a lil' sunshine on my balcony before leaving...classes went well, science and dance in human society... had a nice lunch with my boyfriend, but nothing seemed to change the mood I was in. Something had me down and I, for the life of me, couldnt figure it out...

You think..oh thats not bad, whats she complaining about????

Welllll, like I said I knew it all was gonna happen. I decide to go to South Street to visit a friend of mine and grab dinner. I go to the atm to get out money and hop on the subway, alls well. Then after meeting up with my friend and doin a lil shopping i find this purse, that I LOVE. The perfect brown leather, gold studded dream boat was right there in my grasp. I go to pay and I cannot find my debit card. WTF! I JUST HAD IT! "now you see, now you dont" it was gone. First things first, call daddy. I did and I got no help or sympothy...just a good ole " well figure it out nik, thats not good, not good!" I had to run back to the atm where i last had it, all the way back at my campus...and no luck. I cancelled my card and ordered a new one, whata process. poop.

BUT before I went back my friend "killa k" and I stopped at one of my favorite diners Johnney Rockets( its sad they actually know me there) to grab food as planned. "moe" could tell I wasnt myself because for one I didnt get food, and two I was barely talking to him. So when he gave killa k her food he said " I threw in a half and half just becaues I think your cool"- half&half is half onion rings, half fries. FOR FREE.

*Today was a nice day though. Had a sweet field trip to a cathedral in north philly which had crazy contraversial paintings inside about the history of African Americans. In a church. Its rare to see this kind of thing, I loved it.

Tomorrow Im playing raquetball, so I can beat my dad and my aunt.
GET READY!

Thursday I'm going to a grand opening of a mural in Philadelphia, Im really excited. Its done by inmates that got to join the mural arts program. I don't know a whole lot about it, but Ill fill ya in later (:

more art to come!
